A community is defined as a group of people living in the same place or the condition of sharing or having certain attitudes and interests in common. However, for Leeuwarden it is so much more than that, especially after winning the award European Capital of Culture in 2018, which could have only happened with the help of the community to create a sense of mienskip. Harmen de Haas defines this word as “being conscious of your own culture and everyone pitching in as a team, whereby people take responsibility for their actions”; which is what is intended with the following projects that are presented above.
