The Buurvrouw & BuurvrouwBus (BBB) is an initiative with a global ambition to (re)discover the value in the role and function of the Neighbour.
The BBB is not a legal entity; it is not a foundation or association, they do not have a bank account and work with money or paid jobs. They are not here to raise funds or grants but want to rely on the power of the actions of the mienskip (society).
Their two mottos are:
"Look at the small and see the big" and "No money, no rules".
Their first project is the bus which has a fixed stop (almost) every day at fixed times in the municipality. You can pick up and deliver goods from the bus and there is also time for a coffee/tea, a chat, and a listening ear.
The neighbours regularly organise (playful) promotions such as a pancake party, clean-up day, Christmas promotion, "Hairdresser cuts handsome", and return points for goods.
The Grocery Store
This is an extended bus service. To bridge an (admission) procedure for benefits and the food bank, we TEMPORARILY supply a shopping bag with food to people who can no longer (financially) afford it.
Fridges
There are also refrigerators in various gardens in different neighbourhoods where people can bring in and take out (fresh) products such as vegetables, fruit, dairy, meat (products), bread or (soft) drinks. De Buurtmensen maintains a network of organisations, companies and shops that also provide them with products. The neighbours take care of the refrigerator's safety, power, communication and supply. The participating companies and neighbours have a sticker (with QR code) indicating that they support the project.
